Cottonwood Tucson Honors Employees ~ The 2013 Hildreth Award And Stone Award Presented

“To find out what one is fitted to do, and to secure an opportunity to do it, is the key to happiness.” John Dewey

Cottonwood Tucson’s Annual Hildreth and Stone Awards presented

On Friday, December 13, 2013, Cottonwood Tucson’s staff gathered to honor two employees by presenting  The Hildreth Award and The Stone Award.

2013 Hildreth Award recipient ~ Steve Gottlieb

Steve Gottlieb

Steve was hired at Cottonwood on November 28, 2006 as a full-time Clinical Nurse (RN) and remained in that role until January of this year at which time he assumed the responsibilities as our Infection Preventionist and Staff Training Instructor. When needed Steve continues to fill in as a Clinical Nurse.

Steve’s wealth of knowledge and training is an asset to Cottonwood as he is certified to train Cottonwood staff in CPR and First Aid, Crises Prevention Intervention, and Auricular Acupuncture. He was also instrumental in the conversion to our electronic medical records and was a great resource to staff during that time.

External to his Cottonwood responsibilities, Steve loves to bike ride, hike and travel. Steve is also devoted to sustaining the environment and is the unofficial chairperson of the Cottonwood Sustainability Team.

Steve is a devoted employee and we are excited that he chose Cottonwood as his employer.

Congratulations to Steve!

2013 Stone Award recipient ~ Kim Sines

Kim Sines

Kim is the Vice President of Clinical Services and has been a member of Cottonwood’s Clinical Team since 1994. Originally from Wisconsin, Kim received a BFA from the University of Wisconsin and an MFA from Arizona State University where he was a teaching fellow. He is licensed as an independent substance abuse counselor in Arizona and specializes in the treatment of addictions and eating disorders.

Congratulations to Kim!

Cottonwood Tucson’s Mission highlights employees’ significance

At Cottonwood Tucson we are dedicated to providing innovative and evidence-based holistic behavioral health treatment in an environment characterized by safety and respect for patients, family members and staff. Our commitment is to exceed community standards in the professional practice of medicine, nursing and psychotherapy and to operate our facility in a way that demonstrates respect and responsibility to our patients and employees.

We opened this post with a quote from John Dewey, an American philosopher, psychologist and educator, who lived from October 20, 1959 to June 1, 1952.

Dewey’s quote highlights how important it is to be able to have a career that you really enjoy. It makes all the difference in one’s own life and certainly impacts the work environment. Employees who enjoy their work have a magical way of adding color and vibrancy to the workplace, the photos of our Sonoran Desert surroundings, shown to the left, speak to this phenomenon.

As 2013 comes to a close, we would like to thank all of our staff members for their continued contribution and dedication to our mission. Since October 2011, on a monthly basis, our employees have nominated and recognized an employee of the month and this year Cottonwood Tucson was nominated and selected by the Tucson Metropolitan Chamber of Commerce to receive the Copper Cactus Award for the Best Place To Work.

For sure we know that it is our employees who make Cottonwood Tucson the best place to work!
